1000 MW Solar Power Project Will To Come Up In Assam By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Fri, Sep 30th, 2022 Highlights : The CM also inaugurated an Integrated Skill Development Centre in Dima Hasao district to supply skilled employees to the 1,000-MW solar power project. The Skill Development Centre in the Ardha area of Diyungbra in Dima Hasao with a cost of Rs 36.60 crore. In a key announcement, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has said that a solar power project of 1,000 MW would come up in Dima Hasao district while inaugurating a Skill Development Centre. The Chief Minister held that the Skill Development Centre in Dima Hasao district will be able to provide skilled employees to the 1,000-MW solar power project. Sarma said that skilled workers will be needed to run the sole project of such big size. He said in his public address that the residents of Dima Hasao that the government is serious about transforming the district into one of the most progressive regions. Sarma inaugurated the Integrated Skill Development Centre in the Ardha area of Skill Development Centre in Dima Hasao. The centre is built with a cost of Rs 36.60 crore. It has come up due to a special financial package which is a part of the accord that was inked between the Central Government, Assam Government and both factions of former militant group called Dima Halim Daogah. The Integrated Skill Development Centre is constructed by the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) and the Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the naming of the centre after the great freedom fighter Veer Sambudhan Phonglo is an appropriate tribute to him. Sarma also mentioned about the 120-MW Lower Kapili Hydel Power Project which is being constructed presently. The project’s foundation stone was laid by Nirmala Sitharaman, the Union Finance Minister. Assam’s Renewable Energy Quest In August, the Assam government announced its plans to produce 2,000 MW of solar power with an investment of Rs 10,000 crore in three years by form a joint venture with NLC India. Recently, SJVN’s Director Finance, Akhileshwar Singh, had met the Assam Chief Minister to looks for avenues to develop renewable energy in the state. The Assam Government wants SJVN to explore innovative ways to develop 5,000 MW of power in different phases. In July, Assam got its first utility-scale 25 MW solar power project in Udalguri district built with a cost of Rs 300 crore.
