Hitachi Energy Wins NTPC REL Contract for Supplying Transformers

Hitachi Energy India has revealed that it has bagged a contract by NTPC Renewable Energy (NTPC REL), which is a wholly owned subsidiary of NTPC. Under the contract, Hitachi will supply power transformers to NTPC for its 4.75 GW renewable energy park in the offing in Gujarat. This will be part of India’s largest solar park.

Specifications of Project

As per the contract between Hitachi and NTPC REL, the former will be responsible for supplying 10 315 MVA 400/33/33 kV transformers that are manufactured at its Vadodara factory. Hitachi added that this will be the largest rating of transformer, used by solar power evacuation thus far.

The Solar Park

The said solar park sprawls to an area of over 72,600 hectares in Kutch and is an effort to accelerate India’s efforts towards carbon-neutral future.

The transformers that Hitachi Energy will supply to NTPC REL are manufactured with fossil-free electricity in the firm;s factory in Maneja. Previously, the leading energy firm had revealed that it had set targets in its sustainability 2030 vision in order to become 100 percent fossil-free electricity in its own operations achieving the target in December last year.
