JinkoSolar Hits New Milestones in July

In a significant development, the Chinese module maker supplied its highest efficiency mono panels for the world’s largest solar project of 1,177 MWp in Abu Dhabi.

Adding another feather in its cap, JinkoSolar Holding has touched new milestones in the month of July, winning the Frost & Sullivan award for 2019 and supplying its highest efficiency mono panels for the world’s largest solar project in Abu Dhabi.

Recently, the Shanghai-headquartered module manufacturer got the Frost & Sullivan 2019 Global Solar PV Technology Leadership award after being recognized for augmenting solar PV efficiency in a cost-effective manner.

The company, which is among the world’s largest solar module makers, has been recognised for its leadership in developing and leveraging solar technologies that offer significant customer value.

Commenting on the award winning candidature of JinkoSolar, Frost & Sullivan’s Global Research Director, Gautham Gnanajothi said “JinkoSolar’s unwavering focus on technology and innovation has propelled it to the top of the global market.”

“JinkoSolar’s technologies have helped facilitate the transition for developers and investors from a focus on price towards performance. The size of 158.75 big wafer has now become the new industry benchmark and is setting standards for the future. In another significant development, the Chinese module maker supplied its highest efficiency mono panels for the world’s largest solar project of 1,177MWp in Abu Dhabi.

The AED 3.2 billion project was jointly developed by the company along with Japan’s Marubeni Corp. and Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC).

The project, which attracted world’s most competitive tariff of 2.42 cents kWh, commenced commercial operations recently at Sweihan in Abu Dhabi.

Speaking on the successful completion of the project, EWEC’s Chairman Mohammad Hassan Al Suwaidi said “the completion of the project marks a significant milestone in the UAE’s Energy Strategy 2050. Launched in 2017 to increase the contribution of clean energy in the total energy mix from 25 percent to 50 percent by 2050 while reducing the carbon footprint of power generation by 70 percent. This is in line with the sectors transformation strategy by providing alternative sources of energy that can help us improve the sustainability of the water and electricity sector.”
