MNRE invites comments/suggestions/views on Draft National Wind-Solar Hybrid Policy by June 30

The Government of India has set an ambitious target of generating 175 GW of renewable energy including 100 GW from solar and 60 GW from wind by the year 2022. So far various policy initiatives have been taken by the government to achieve this target.

Studies reveal that solar and winds are nearly complementary to each other and hybridization of two technologies would help in reducing the variability apart from optimally utilizing the infrastructure including land and transmission system.

Existing wind farms have scope to add solar PV capacity and similarly there is wind potential in the vicinity of existing solar PV plant.

MNRE notes that suitable policy interventions are required not only for new wind-solar hybrid plants but also to encourage hybridization of existing wind and solar plant.

MNRE has prepared draft national Wind-Solar Hybrid Policy accordingly and made it available on the website. The ministry is now inviting comments/suggestions/views of the stakeholders.
