In March this year, NLC India invited bids for 100 MW ISTS-connected solar power projects on a pan India basis. The scope of work includes getting approval for connectivity and long-term access (LTA), land procurement, design, engineering, site development, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of the 100 MW solar power project’s total capacity with the associated evacuation system. The deadline to submit the bids online was April 8.

NLC has stated that its current renewable energy capacity is 1.4 GW, which is amongst the highest for all CPSE’s. The company has made an investment of nearly ₹6,000 crore and has entered into power purchase agreements with the Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (Tangedco). Its solar installed capacity accounts for 33.5% of the total solar capacity of Tamil Nadu (4,007 MW). NLC has registered for new initiatives in green energy sector and formed a joint venture company with Coal India Limited to develop solar and thermal power assets. Currently, the company has 2.8GW of solar and wind projects in the pipeline to be completed by 2025.
