Tata Motors Wins 500 EVs Order from Lithium Urban Technologies

Under this partnership, Tata Motors will supply its 400 newly launched Tigor Sedan EV, with an extended range of 213 km, by FY20, along with 100 other EVs like Nexon EV.

Spanning development and supply of both commercial and passenger vehicles, Tata Motors said that it has received an order for 500 electric vehicles (EVs) from Lithium Urban Technologies, which owns the largest fleet of EVs in the world outside of China, claimed Tata Motors.

Under this partnership, Tata Motors will supply its 400 newly launched Tigor Sedan EV, with an extended range of 213 km, by FY20, along with 100 other EVs like Nexon EV.

The company further said that, the long-term partnership between the two companies is set to leapfrog the electrification of the transport service market.

As per the deal, both the companies will explore bespoke models to address requirements of customers who are increasingly looking for tailor-made mobility solutions in the market across passenger, mass transit and freight segments.

The move will help the EV fleet provider, Lithium, to significantly expand its current fleet of 1,000 EVs to further consolidate its leadership position as the largest EV based mobility service provider.

Claiming the order win as big turning point for the EV market, Shailesh Chandra, President – Electric Mobility Business & Corporate Strategy of Tata Motors said that “this is not just the most significant milestone for Tata Motors’ E-Mobility Business, but also a big turning point in the EV market, which is now likely to see fleets electrify faster than ever before.”
