Tata Motors Wins EESL Tender; To Deploy Tigor EVs for UGVCL in Gujarat

Tata Motors, a USD 44 billion company, on Thursday said that it has won a tender from state-owned Energy Efficiency Services Ltd (EESL) to supply its Tigor Electric Vehicles (EVs) to state power distribution company Uttar Gujarat Vij Company Ltd. (UGVCL).

As per the deal, the leading auto manufacturer will deploy Tigor EVs in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad cities in the state of Gujarat.

Moreover, the first batch of Tata Tigor EVs was flagged off today by Saurabhbhai Patel, Minister of Energy, and Mahesh Singh, Managing Director of UGVCL along with dignitaries from the two companies.

Commenting on the development, Shailesh Chandra, President – Electric Mobility Business & Corporate Strategy of Tata Motors, said “we are delighted to partner with Uttar Gujarat Vij Company ltd. (UGVCL) for introducing zero-emission vehicles in Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad. Tata Motors has always been at the forefront of developing sustainable and responsible mobility solutions for India and this order is a testament of our commitment to bring EV solutions closer to our customers.”

Chandra further added that “we are determined to drive adoption of electric vehicles in the country, thereby supporting government’s vision 2030.”

However, the USD 110 billion Tata Group company did not disclose the total number of EVs to be deployed under this partnership.
