Tender issued for 1MW Rooftop Solar for Sun Temple and Modhera in Gujarat

A tender for engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) has been issued by the Gujarat Power Corporation Limited (GPCL) for the installment of a minimum of 1 megawatt (MW) rooftop for India’s rich heritage hubs of the Sun Temple and the historical township of Modhera in Gujarat. The heritage site lies in the Mehsana district of the state.

The notification of the GPCL says that the last date for online submission shall be February 28, 2022 and the pre-bid meeting will take place on 11^th and 15^th day of February. The Corporation will announce the opening date of the bid to all technically qualified bidders.

In the process, all bidders shall be required to deposit earnest money of Rs 1.86 million along with 10 per cent of the EPC contract value towards performance bank guarantee. The deposit has to be made within two weeks from the letter of intent issuance.

The project will see a development of a smart integrated project that would comprise 1000 residential rooftop systems with 1kW capacity each. This will be in Modhera, Sujanpura and Samalaiyapara villages in which at least 500 rooftops will have to be grid connected. In addition, the vendors shall also install 250 kW rooftop solar systems in the government buildings that lie in these villages.

Once the project is ready, the vendors shall also shoulder responsibility for operation and maintenance of the system for ten years.

To qualify in the bidding, a bidder must have a net worth of Rs 20 million and experience in installing and commissioning rooftop projects totaling a minimum of 500kW. Successful bidders will need to commission the project within 45 days from the issuance of the letter of intent. The solar modules employed need to be of 72 cells and must be selected as per the Approved List of Models and Manufacturers (ALMM). This premier list is issued by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy.

Additionally, the vendors must provide a warranty of 10 years for the solar modules whose peak power output should not be less than 90 per cent and at the end of 25 years – should stand at 80 per cent.
